December 14, 2011 – Super Hero “Chapulin Colorado”

Hey guys its Keato,

So another really good week like always. So first of all, Elder McGhie got transferred. I’m really going to miss Elder McGhie. He was the best. One of my best friends in the mission. So my new companion is Elder Vilchez. His name is Samaiel Kenyo Vilchez Vasquez and he is from Piura Peru. He is super cool and super fun. He is finishing up his mission in February so he has a lot of experience and knows how to do things really well. He got here to Universal last Wednesday and we’ve been going hard and finding people to baptize. Its cool because this week we started teaching this one sister named Elizabeth and her family. We taught them this whole week, they went to a baptism and to the church on Sunday and are really excited to get baptized. They have a fecha for 24 of December and we’re really excited for them. As well, this week, Ricardo got baptized. It was the best. Ricardo is the best and we were so pumped to have his baptism. It was cool because Elder McGhie got transfers but he got permission from President to come to the baptism so I got to see Elder McGhie on Saturday.

So yeah. sorry not to write on Monday. Monday we had Zone Leader Council so I was in consejo the whole day. Then yesterday we had the Christmas Conference with President Ardila. It was fun. In the morning we listened to some talks from Presidente and his wife and some others. Then at midday we ate lunch and presented our sketches. Each zone had to prepare a sketch and we did a sketch with the theme “el chavo del ocho” which is an old comedy from Mexico, Maybe Derek has seen it. Well my character was Chapulin Colorado, which is like a really clumsy super hero. The whole thing flopped but we all laughed at how bad it was. It was still really fun. Then from there we went to the National Museum of Peru and saw a whole bunch of really cool stuff then we went to downtown Lima then back to our areas. It was a good fun day. It was fun because I got to see all my friends that are here in Lima.

Well that’s about it for this week.

Just to let you know. I’m going to call next monday at 12 my time (10 your time) for 5 minutes to setup the call for Navidad. Thanks for the Skype account.

Love you guys a ton and sorry not to write more, but my computer is really bad.

Love ya a ton and I’ll talk to you guys next week. Literally talk to you. HAHA

Love Ya

Love Keato

    Hi Ron and Carrie! If you find a moment to look at Peter’s blog this week, you’ll see a photo of the group that was in Lima for Conferencia Navidena on Tuesday, and Keaton is standing right behind Pete. I knew they’d end up in the same place eventually! It was great fun to see those handsome faces in the same picture. Hope all is well–I’ve been a bit concerned by some of Keaton’s comments, and have been thinking of you.

  2. Hi, I just read Keatons email for this week and thanks for posting those pictures, it made me cry….happy tears to see all those cute missionaries having so much fun together!! Spencer wrote us on Monday so he hadnt been to the Lima Christmas party and I am sure that was really great!! Thanks for having such a wonderful son!! He is one of the best missionaries ever and the time Spencer got to spend with him was a definite highlight of his mission!! They worked so hard and they got their zone excited to work and they found people in an area where there had been very few baptisms!! I am so thankful they got to have the experience to work together and be companions!! I know Spencer loved every minute of it!! And it was so nice for me as a mom to know that he had such a great companion!! I am sure Spencer has snapped out of his feeling sorry for himself that he got transfered faze!! He was so bummed in his voice message but he was trying to sound happy but you know when Spencer is happy (he usually is happy and I love that about him, so when he is down, it is pretty obvious at least to his mom!!)!!! Anyway, Spencer rebounds back to being happy pretty fast so I am sure he is loving his new area and working to find people to baptise!! I hope the mission president will let Spencer go to the baptisms on Christmas day, that would be a great Christmas present!! =)

    I hope you all have a wonderful and Merry Christmas!! Thanks for raising such a wonderful son/missionary………….sorry this is so long again???? =)

    Stay in touch when you have time!!
    Love,
    Carrie =)
