February 7, 2012 – In just 3 days

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHUMPY. Sorry I couldn’t write you yesterday. We didn’t get time to write but I hope you had a great birthday. Crazy to think that you are 15. Crazy!!!!!! so another good week like always. A little crazy but really awesome at the same time. So last Monday we were in Tarma. Tarma is a really sweet town. Really chill and really pretty. We had zone meeting and played Soccer for Pday. Everyone had a good time. Then Tuesday and Wednesday were normal. Then on Thursday, the assistants called us in the morning. It was pretty interesting because they told us that we had changes. Elder Riggs and I switched areas with the Oroya Antigua. La Oroya Antigua is a harder area that hasn’t baptized very much. We got sent there to try and raise the area and start baptizing again. so all Thursday we spent moving things from one room to another. Then on Friday I went with Elder Hernandez to get to know the area a little bit and from there on we were on our own. It was weird because when we got there, there was absolutely nothing. There was no one to teach. Nothing!!!!!. So we just went to work. It was awesome because Thursday we contacted this one guy named Elvis and his wife Liz. They’re a young couple, about 23 and 21 years old. They have a kid named Danilo. We spoke to them for about 2 minutes and then they invited us to come over and teach them. So Friday we went over and taught them about the restoration. We left them with a chapter in the Book of Mormon to read and we went. On Saturday we returned and they had read everything and were super excited for our visit. We taught some more and they were awesome. Then Sunday they came to church. One of the coolest experiences happened at church. Since it was fast Sunday, we had testimony meeting. I was sitting next to the Brother Elvis and he leaned over and asked me. “Can anyone go up and share their testimony” I replied yes. He then stood up and walked up to the front and bore his testimony that he knew that the church was true. That in the 3 days that we have taught them they had felt a peace and joy in their life and that he wanted to be member of the church. It was amazing. It was the most powerful testimony of the day and it came from a man who heard about the gospel just 3 days before. It was awesome. They are now preparing to get married and baptized the 25 of February. It was such an amazing experience. It is amazing to see the Lords hand in the mission. On Thursday we went into an area known for not baptizing and the Lord put 2 people in our path. It is amazing this work.

Then yesterday we were traveling all day to Lima for Zone Leader Conference with Presidente. It went really well and now I’m writing from lima. Its been a crazy week but really amazing all at the same time.

So as for you guys. sounds like everyone and everything is going great. Happy Birthday Shumpy and good luck with Volleyball. I’m sure you’ll do fine because you’re a stud. Also you have to send me pictures of your teeth. Cant wait to see.
